P007 → Watermelon Seeds
Art Direction, Multimedia
June, 2024
Art direction for an immersive and interactive installation, “Watermelon Seeds,” criticises the Palestinian genocide. Its visual language derives from the watermelon as a symbol of Palestinian resistance. The user's physical interaction with "debris", representing children, women and press, triggers a real-time CAVE projection where each seed represents a life lost in the West Bank and Gaza.
This visceral, real-time data visualisation creates a dynamic experience and a poignant visual display to provoke deep reflection on the ongoing reality in Palestine. The core concept is an amalgamation of cultural symbolism and interactive design, with a focus on manipulating visual elements to convey a powerful and resonant message.
